Uh, folks.... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heartbroken. I really thought she was waiting until she had completed her announcing commitments. Once completed, she would become our next head coach.

I'm stunned -- because all information I had was that she was done with coaching. Well, good luck to her, except anytime she is going head-to-head with Penn State.

Something weird going on. Maybe she was finalist and just notified she didn’t get PSU job. Other than money, why would she take assistant job and move her family. She could have lots of head coach positions around the country. I’m lost. Sandy must have something big planned. And it’s got to happen real soon

That's a surprise. Wasn't the PSU AD trying to sign Salima? Why would she go to Notre Dame?

Well, that is not good, I am scratching my head, this truly is a bummer. I am sure once the new coach for PSU is announced it will shed some light on this.

We should all be asking what is going on with PSU volleyball......ALL the seniors were offered their extra covid year....none of them took it. Coach retires.......The one person that was destined to take over PSU..Salima .....doesn't take it! Do you think Coach is talking to perspective coaches and saying.......Don't take the job because of x,y and z? ......Could the players still there be the issue? Is there something bigger going on??? Who has the scoop?

I am confident that Salima wasn't Penn State's first choice. That's not to say she won't be a very good coach, but I believe Penn State thinks it has better candidates.

Sucker punched. Gasp.
Someone of Volleywhatever mentioned that it was a tough time to be hiring while ND was looking for a coach. I thought that was a non-sequitor. Maybe they threw in a boatload of cash.

There is more upward potential at ND in a less punishing conference. The problem for a Penn State coach is the best teams in the country are in the B1G. It will be a tough challenge. Or it could be money? The story will come out. Let's wait and see who the new coach is before making any pronouncements.

I hope we have a plan b. New coach was supposed to be announced before next week and with the timing of this announcement today for the person that many of us thought would be announced, they don’t have much time left.

I agree with yogi...Salima was the heir apparent, and walked away...she was not seriously considered. She turns 50 this month as well, not a long term solution. My money is on Alyssa D'Errico... reminder she has far more experience than RR had when he started. Flawless resume as a player and very solid as a coach. She is The One.
