I really like this thread. The Recruiting Matrix is how I found and started following this website. Can't wait for next year. PSU will have 4 Setters to battle for a spot (Weiskircher, Rivera, K. Krause, and Demure). Should be an exciting year. Will miss Megan and Aiyanna, but I'm excited to see what the newcomers will bring. I forgot to mention that we will have 2 legitimate Liberos to battle for a spot (Holcomb & K. White). As they say, competition breeds success/excellence. What I don't see on the horizon is someone like A. Scott or Aiyanna Whitney--someone that can simply go over the opponent's block. It would be unfortunate to become fans who talk about how we lead the country in digs. Digging is good, but it seems that what you call teams that lead in digs is "also-rans." I'm sure Russ and company will find another A.Scott and/or A. Whitney for 2018! They are always on top of it when it comes to recruiting! I also am not impressed with teams with high digging stats, in fact, I look forward us playing those teams!

Is she the heir apparent? She's also from New Jersey, right?

We do have Kendell White DS coming in 2016 to compete with Holcomb for Libero position and 6-3 MB Camryn May from Texas. I do believe we are set for the next 3 years with Bryanna as setter. In my opinion, she is much further in development than Micha was her Freshman year as far as the setting department. I see great things for her on team in the future. Yes, Nia is from NJ. We also currently have a couple of Redshirt Freshmen now on the team. 6-2 OPP Jelena Novakovic(RS Injury) from Serbia and 6-2 MB Tori Gorrell. I think both will see action next year when Courtney and Whitney are gone.

I'very been surprised before, and have no inside knowledge, but I'll be surprised if Krause competes for the setter position for any extended period. I also can't imagine Weiskircher losing her spot to any of those players. Perhaps not Krause so much, but Demure who can be a pin hitter and set. I really like those tools. PSU needs someone who can do what Courtney did on the court. It'll be interesting for sure. Although, sometimes younger siblings far outplay their older ones. It seems there is a dynamic in play when kids are growing up, where the younger ones work much harder to keep up with the older ones, but that's only a guess. I think Weiskircher brings a lot to the table, but knowing other players are lurking, will motivate her to work harder, less room for errors. Also, more importantly, I'm thinking about injuries; if the setter or libero is hurt, there need to be good substitutes.

I remember the years when PSU was leading the conference in digs a long time ago, but had no realistic chance of winning a championship. Seems like only teams that can terminate have a really good chance.

Let us not forget the mantra "DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS"

Let us not forget the mantra "DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS" Sure, but I think there's passive and active defense, I believe many would agree that digging is the passive type. Blocking is more active and a skill PSU has used to great effect.

And ideally, blocking and the ability to terminate efficiently go hand-in-hand (though obviously, not all front row players have both skills).

This isn't football where you can win 2-0 just by defense. In volleyball you have to score 25 points to win. It is not the same.

for Penn State -- I don't think so. Although on DigNittanyVolleyball's recruiting pages (Recruiting Matrix, and the individual Class pages -- e.g. 2016 Recruiting) we don't speculate on who has a scholarship and who doesn't, one leading indicator is if they sign an LOI/NLI. I suspect PSU only had one scholarship to give for 2016, so I doubt there will be any more LOI/NLI signings (though I could be wrong) and there is a "letter" that non-scholarship athletes sign, the name of which I forget. Regardless, the only thing that matters to me is whether Coach Rose and his staff think enough of a player to let them dress and practice with the team. If they're good, they'll get playing time. And help Penn State win. And I look forward to seeing all of them -- whether on scholarship or not -- do just that.

Does anyone know what her and the other 2016 recruits ranks are on the PrepVolleyball website?
