Does anyone know whether Kendall White will graduate early and come into Penn State to work out with the team early - Spring Semester 2016? If she was she would have announced it already. I hope we don't put all of our expectations to return as a top competitive team on Kendall's shoulders. She is a very good libero but we need six-rotation terminators as well. If not now, when? I've followed recruiting in various sports for a long time. People love recruiting, I think, because recruits hold the promise of future success. So until players actually show up, anything is possible. In reality, some will be better than we fans hoped, some worse, and by cosmic coincidence, some exactly as predicted. But until then . . . .

We certainly could use another terminator. Maybe that person will emerge from the returning players. Maybe as a transfer. I'm unwilling at this point to entertain the notion that one will not emerge one way or the other. Call me Mr. Irrational ebulliance.

Does anybody know, how long has it been since PSU was this light on pin hitting talent? Frantti and Lee will have to carry the load -- they'll have to stay healthy or PSU is going to struggle in the B1G next year. The question is Gorrell, Novakovic and Reed. Will one of them emerge as a hitter? If not, Rose and Rockwell are going to have to stay by the phone hoping for calls from potential transfers.

How do you think Frantti and Lee compare with Hodge and Fawcett?

How do you think Frantti and Lee compare with Hodge and Fawcett? Considering there are very very very few players who become Olympic level pin hitters I would say the later two were rare. The good news is you don't need Olympic caliber pin hittera to compete and even win a Final 4. And Penn State proved that the past 3 out of 4 years.

How do you think Frantti and Lee compare with Hodge and Fawcett? I assume you are being sarcastic about the comparison, right? They can be good OHs, but vary far away from Hodge and Fawcett. Frantti is certainly close, but I don't even think Lee would rank top 10 OHs in B1G. They are the ladies I'll root for in coming years, but let's not get carried away with this kind of comparison.

How do you think Frantti and Lee compare with Hodge and Fawcett? Seriously?

Folks, be nice. You can say wonderful things about Fawcettt and Harmotto and Glass without being rude about others.

For 2016 Penn State has one recruit, Kendall White, PVB #38 in PrepVolleyball top 300. Meanwhile Florida has six recruits (5 in the top 50) as follows: Darrelle King MB PVB# 8 6-3 Rachel Kramer MB 28 6-8 Morgan Greer OH 33 6-3 Mia Sokolowski OH 39 6-3 Cheyenne Huskey S 46 6-2 Allie Gregory L 101-250 Seriously, it makes you wonder if we even sent anyone out recruiting? Perhaps we were waiting for them to come to our summer camps?

We simply have too many of them and not enough pin hitters, imo.

Maybe Coach Rose got wind of an impending NCAA rule change that will allow eight players on the court at one time--provided five of them are 5'7" or under?

No, one person a team does not make. However, I firmly believe in the weak link in the chain theory. We definitely need to shore up some weak links next year and a really good libero with 3-point passing and directing traffic is one of them, IMO. We also need to get better at serving. It seemed to me that serving was anemic all year, with the exception of Weiskircher and Washington (who led the team).

I don't ķnow about about a scholarship (and as I said in my post, it doesn't really matter to me), and I don't believe she was ranked in the top 100. Micha Hancock was ranked in the 40s, I think. Rankings are a good indicator of talent and Club success, but they aren't infallible as predictive tools. I'm going to check on rankings. FYI PrepVolleyball claims that 2016 is a very deep recruiting class yet Kendall White is the only PSU recruit in the top 300. For 2016 Penn State has one recruit, Kendall White, PVB #38 in PrepVolleyball top 300. Meanwhile Florida has six recruits (5 in the top 50). Seriously, it makes you wonder if we even sent anyone out recruiting? Perhaps we were waiting for them to come to our summer camps? That could be due to Penn State not having any more scholarships to give out, but it's just a guess. You will have to wait and see what quality of recruits Florida will get in 2017, if they're bringing in so many in 2016. Also, don't forget, just last year, Penn State snagged 5 of the top 14 “Senior Aces” per prepvolleyball.com (3 of which were in the top 10). I'm sure those 5 all received scholarships (and most likely Heidi Thelen as well - ranked in the 70's I think). Each school is only allowed 12 volleyball scholarships per the NCAA.

I feel confident that one of the bench players will step up to the plate and start full time next season. I wouldn't put my money on any transfers coming in, but you never know.

Courtesy of Badgerbill on VT:
Penn State has had a couple of big and talented classes (5 to 6 athletes in a class) which may hurt recruiting (2016 and 2017 for example). If you recruit a whole starting lineup of studs in one season playing time limitations may be a turn off for future recruits.
