Just read a post by Vblyf on VT about a very interesting prospective OH recruit for 2018.SC Gatorade Volleyball Player of the Year: Thayer HallTHE BASICS: School: Dorman (Roebuck, S.C.) Grade: Sophomore Position: Outside hitter Height: 6-foot-3 Athletic achievement: She slammed 570 kills while recording a .539 kill percentage and .417 hitting percentage this past season, leading the Cavaliers (35-4) to the Class AAAA state final. Also the Class 4A Player of the Year as named by the South Carolina Coaches Association of Women’s Sports, Hall amassed 310 digs, 239 service receptions, 58 service aces and 36 blocks. A two-time club All-American, she led the Upward Stars to the 2015 AAU Girls’ Junior National Volleyball Championships this past summer, capturing tournament Most Valuable Player honors. Academic excellence: Also an accomplished artist and basketball standout, Hall has maintained a 4.94 weighted GPA and has served as a member of her school’s leadership program. Exemplary character: In addition to donating her time as a youth volleyball instructor, she has volunteered locally on behalf of a soup kitchen, her church, the Special Olympics and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. THE PRAISE: “Thayer Hall is quite possibly the best player and athlete I have seen as a high school coach,” said April Raymond, head coach at rival Raymond High. “She’s extremely effective and powerful.” THE FUTURE: Hall will begin her junior year of high school in the fall of 2016. I hear we are competing with Florida, Nebraska, and Kentucky for Thayer Hall and probably several others schools. She sounds like a PSU-type of person.

Does anyone know when Emily Demure is expected to arrive on campus? Kendall White? Seems like Demure is going to be spend a full senior year in high school per this article dated 9/22/15:www.thepresstribune.com/article/9/22/15/demure-commits-top-ranked-penn-state-volleyball“When I go there, I will mostly be a setter,” DeMure explained. “So right now, I want to focus on perfecting my defense, since that’s kind of my weak point. I think by playing outside and setting for this team, it really helps me hone those skills.” As a 6-foot-2 setter and outside hitter, DeMure has flourished in Granite Bay’s system over the past two seasons. She’s an emotional leader for the team and leads by example with her outstanding play. With nearly a full high school season ahead of her, DeMure will have to wait to join the nation’s best team, but that doesn’t mean she can’t think about the possibilities ahead of her.

The highlighted sentence in the article, written 09/22/2015, refers to the HS volleyball season. Demure would have been in the midst of her final HS volleyball season at that time. Doesn't indicate she will remain in HS both semesters. Perhaps she will begin school early and participate in Spring training. If not, it's not the end of the world. Recruits beginning college early to start their athletic training is a relatively new thing. Didn't impact those Championship team members from the past. Can't assume the additional time will speed, make or break her success on the court for PSU. Here's hoping she plays well and adds what the team needs whenever she arrives!

Although, it doesn't say she's leaving early either; however, either way, I cannot see her being a huge impact in her first year or two (she was not ranked high). I think most kids who want to finish High School early really need to plan it out in advance. Therefore, that kind of news would come out even before their senior season. I remember my sister knew by her junior year that she was going to finish HS a semester early. The fact that Demure can play setter as well as OH really intrigues me though. I'm curious to see how she develops in the next couple years.

If she doesn't surprise in her first two years it will be very difficult for her to get court time. The coaching staff think 2018 setter Gabby Blossum has a bright future for the team.

Good news folks. Looks like we have an new recruit for 2018. Just read this post courtesy of Eldorado from VT.
"Haven't seen this Penn St recruit posted on the site .
She is 6'2 and is one of two very good middles for San Gabriel 16, they finished second in 15 Open at USAV Nationals last year. Season set to open here next weekend."

Eldorado said "Haven't seen this Penn St recruit posted on the site." I assumed he's referring to the Dignittany Recruiting Matrix webpage.

I read on volleytalk that Nebraska has a posssible top O/H interest in them for 2017, 2018, and 2019. I wouldn't be surprised if Thayer Hall is the one for 2018. I wonder where they will put them all.

As we all know, having interest is different from having a commitment.
