I read on volleytalk that Nebraska has a posssible top O/H interest in them for 2017, 2018, and 2019. I wouldn't be surprised if Thayer Hall is the one for 2018. I wonder where they will put them all. Now that there are two MB's committed for 2018 would PSU still be looking for OH/RS? Nice to see a fellow fan posting here for the first time. I think that OH's are the next priority on the coaching staffs list. Can't wait to see who we pick up.

Not our next priority - our only priority left. The coaches have lined up replacements for all positions except possibly the most important one, that is the left side hitters. If we don't get some excellent pin hitters there, then it will be time to lower expectations. Some of the best 2018 LS hitters have already committed (and a few 2019 ones too) while PSU hasn't had a LS hitter arrive since 20114. Apparently the staff has whiffed on several elite hitters and is getting ready to go to Plan B. We desperately need a recruit like Thayer Hall. While you would think there is plenty of time to get these recruits the truth is the best ones are committing earlier all the time except the ones waiting to get into Stanford.

The recruiting at all the other Big Ten schools has really picked up. Normally the coaches would try to build relationships with recruits as early as 8th or 9th grade ( often through summer camps) so when our coaching staff turned over except for the head coach it had to cause some problems, which are still trying to be remedied. Keep your fingers crossed.

As you probably already know Coach Rose does not throw out a big net to catch recruits. He selects only the ones who he believes will be most effective and that the team has room for. If those selections do not pan out a secondary list of player recruits come into play. That is sometimes referred to as Plan B. This list is fluid and subject to many updates and is not open to the public. Lexi Sun was an Plan A recruit that unfortunately chose to go to Texas.

Keep your fingers crossed. I think you are probably right on point regarding the impact of staff turnover. Obviously, the most important recruiter is Coach Rose, but the assistant coaches do build relationships, as you point out, and over the past years PSU has had Salima Rockwell leave (then return), Dennis Hohenshelt, Kalena Davidson, and Steve Aird leave as assistants, and Adam Hughes -- an exceptional DOV -- leave to become an assistant coach with Aird. That's alot of turnover. It had to have some effect -- hard to measure how much.

Per Prepvolleyball:
Logan Eggleston
Logan Eggleston, Alliance, 6-2, OH – Alliance director Jeff Wismer said Eggleston has offers from Penn State, Florida and Louisville. She has a 6-4 wingspan and a 33” inch vertical “along with a growing touch on the ball that is dwarfed by her competitive drive and tenacity,” Wismer said. “This Big Ten recruit is a proven terminator who will be an impact on the 15 Open national scene during the 2016 club season.”
Logan is 2019 Plan A recruit.

Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly does this mean: "growing touch on the ball?" I'm not sure, I thought it might refer to her ability to tool the block. Logan would appear able to hit over the block based on that vertical. Let's hope we can land her.

I took this to mean she could vary the speed of her attacks to confuse the opponents.

I would really like to see the coaching staff scouting international players as well. There is such a huge field of prospects out there. If necessary, PSU should even hire someone to scout just the international youth. There are so many talented players, who, I think, would love to come to the USA.

There are still some gifted 2018 RS out there. Here is the one I want to see in the PSU lineup. Haley Warner, 6-2 RS, Fayetteville (Arkansas) – One of the top recruits nationally in the 2018 class, Warner followed up her freshman year, when she was Arkansas’ Gatorade POY award, with a stellar sophomore campaign. The power-hitting lefty recorded 492 kills (4.6 per game), 239 digs, 70 blocks and 27 aces for a nationally-ranked Bulldog squad that captured the state 7A title. Warner was named First Team All-State and to the All-State Tournament Team.

This is old news but still interesting. Of course most of the seniors have already committed.

But how interesting that ~3 GPOYs are sophomores.
