Well, that was a shocker! WI just lost in 5 sets to North Carolina. I'm now very interested to see how NC does against MN tomorrow and the rest of the season. Maybe PSU's loss to NC wasn't that bad. Was WI overrated? Is it bad that I find some consolation in other people's (i.e., WI fan's) misery? Wisconsin match scoreline: Set . .... .... .1 ...2 ..3 .. 4 ...5 .Wisconsin ...23 27 25 20 11 ....N. Carolina 25 25 23 25 15 ....The first 3 sets look tight; must've been a battle early on.

I hope we don't think (and I know we don't) that this excuses the performance against North Carolina. But Wisconsin overrated? My goodness! Next, you'll be suggesting that they had the B1G's best setter in 2013 and 2014. (I can't wait to get on Volleytalk and go into full schadenfreude mode)

And then Purdue takes down Stanford! Wow! Just checked out the score. Purdue wins it in 5 sets; this could be bad for PSU (down the road)! Set . .. .. .1 ...2 ...3 ...4 ...5 ..Points Kills Purdue ...31 12 25 28 15 ....95 ....71 Stanford 33 25 23 26 11 ....87 ....71 Sets 1 and 4 must've been a real battle. I feel sorry for the rankings voters this week.

All this and more to come only confirms what I thought. PSU 2016 isn't as bad as people think and not that far off the mark of a top 5-10 if not higher team.
Freshmen, simone and auxiliary people keep doing what they are doing and we get Ali and Haleigh's confidence and production up JUST a notch and we are in the mix folks.
IN THE MIX!

I agree -- but until they produce (particularly Washington and Frantti) this team is unrealized potential. Sort of Big Hat, no cattle.

And then Purdue takes down Stanford! And that powerhouse from ____?___, Missouri (AKA Missouri State) took down Ohio State. I wonder if Rampageripster will get interventioned (why can't it be a verb?) into de-tox this year.

The university was called Southwest Missouri State. A few years ago, its increased size and stature within the Missouri university system prompted the name change. A number of my high school friends attended what is now Missouri State. I even applied to the university as my safety school. The university has always supported its athletics programs and most of them are pretty competitive.

Since ESPN could not get it together last night to broadcast a ranked program competition, I watched unranked Kent State (Dom Gonzalez, Asst Coach) lose to University of Evanston. Never heard of that institution. Yet, they were able to manage to broadcast on ESPN a women's event. hmmm.
