So the philosophical question: If VolleyTalk was already a land of waste how could a spontaneous boycott by those who enjoy this site make any real difference? (Like I said, I can admit when I don't know something) I don't think VT is a wasteland. Lots of smart, knowledgeable people, lots of good insight, lots of helpful info. Where it falls down for me is the 'When Fans Collide" problem. Apparently, many of you have experienced this in the same way, or a similar way, to what I have experienced on VT too many times: hostile, or disdainful responses to simple statements or honest, no-agenda questions. Like others have commented, that isn't what I'm looking for. Like many here have self-reported, I am generally a novice when it comes to volleyball knowledge. I really appreciate the good nature shown on this site, and the generosity of spirit of this community. |

never came here as an alternative to VT but because this is the best fit for my interests. Although I love WVB, especially D1, I love PSU WVB above all else. I don't just like the game and the history, but the community, the dynasty, and everything from the wRECing Crew to what seems to be an ethical program featuring players with integrity. You bring it all together for us.

I tried to contend that Volleytalk is a wasteland for discussion of PSU-specific issues; not everything. There's lots to like... Pick-the-winners, BluePenguins future RPI, game threads with links to stats and videos, discussions about TV, movies, music... I just have some problems with some of the members. But, I'm getting better at avoiding the wrong kinds of involvement.
I'm really happy that Nyline got this started and I'm happy all of you participate.

If you (the collective you) haven't checked, there are some excellent posts on VolleyTalk this evening. BluePenguin's getting more data and refining his future RPI, there's an excellent post on bracketology that gives a Who's who on who's likely to make it to the tournament. Nice breakdown on who the likely conference champs will be. And there's probably two or three other threads worth perusing. AND, some posters are having difficulty dealing with the team that's Number 1 RPI and leads the Coaches' Poll. Schadenfreude time DigNittany Nation!
