Anyone see the Oregon/Oregon State match? Oregon is TOUGH. Quick feet, big swings, and aggressive. OSU wasn't really even a threat. Could be this year's sleeper... I thought PSU (#6 pre-season) was this year's sleeper?

Yes! PSU a sleeper to many...not we, the enlightened... ; ) Seriously, Oregon at preseason #18 was a bit of an underestimation in hindsight. But, the season is young, and they have a killer PAC12 schedule. They play Stanford, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Washington State and Cal (vastly improved from last 2 years) all twice, as well as UCLA and USC. That is seemingly the toughest PAC12 schedule among those in that conference. So time will tell. Hope we end up being the ultimate 'sleeper' and win it all! Here's hoping.

She landed on her teammate's (#17 Albrecht) foot midway thru set 3 when coming down from a block against Omaha on Sat. Thanks! Must wait and see. Although the idea of an 'unknown, unscouted commodity' is a bit frightening. He's got a loaded bench...albeit untested, but loaded. Cook said that because of Hunter's delay in playing with the team, that he figures they are about 2-3 weeks behind regarding (hitter-setter) timing, etc.

Finally saw this match in its entirety. Very fun match to watch; tons of crazy-long rallies with all kinds of defensive plays. Couple things I noticed: 1) Both teams played tremendous defense, very scrappy. 2) The Boise St. libero is really good 3) To beat Minny, we need to slow Samedy down (because no one is going to stop her) 4) Minny suffers from the same thing this year as in previous years - they don't have very high kill efficiency %, they rely a lot on their defense. 5) Our hitters need to terminate well and we need to pass well in order to beat them (which we've been doing fairly well this season) 6) Finally, we need to serve tough to keep them unbalanced (again, several players have had a lot of success serving this season) I agree with all your points. Defense and quick terminating along with tough serving will win the day! Let me know what you think of this Nebraska match with Omaha. I would have loved to see the Nebraska match with UNI but like the 1st Stanford match with Penn State, there was no video. From my view of this match, I see Omaha losing it more than Nebraska won it; especially in set 1. I've included the post match press conference at end of video (Omaha). Cook said that because of Hunter's delay in playing with the team, that he figures they are about 2-3 weeks behind regarding (hitter-setter) timing, etc. That's a tactic commonly known as "sandbagging." Omaha might have taken set 1, but they made some errors and looked content just to keep it close. I think a combination of Nebraska service errors and Omaha playing at home with confidence was the reason set 1 was so close. Couple things I noticed:1) Nebraska did look off and ran a slow offense; they didn't look impressive 2) Nebraska will bring a physical presence to the net - blocking and hitting (as is typical of a Cook led Huskers team). 3) Foecke is the only threat, which I'm worried about (that is, if she has a monster game; I would key in on her) 4) I think PSU's offense is too fast for Nebraska this year 5) I think PSU's block will give most of their hitters fits 6) If Hollman is out this match, Nebraska will sorely miss her 7) I can see a PSU sweep this early in the season 8) EDIT: I almost forgot to add that the Omaha student announcers were absolutely horrible; they knew nothing about the sport. Probably the worst pair ever, to the point that they were comical. I got the sense that they've been calling too many beer-pong tournaments. Should be a good game, all-in-all. Nebraska always plays us tough. Although, I predict a sweep by PSU, I wouldn't be surprised if it goes 4.
