PSU defeats UNC by a score of 1-0. Goal by Frannie Crouse in the 7th minute, assisted by Charlotte Williams. Watched the match! We got so close to scoring a couple more. Sunday will be another battle against #8 Virginia. Always good to beat North Carolina in a match. |

Game was on BTN. Quite interesting to see PSU play counter attacking soccer. I did not think our team was set up to play that style. BTW, is there any sport which is officiated more poorly than college soccer?

I think Freigang should've scored late in the match, but North Carolina is the PSU Women's Volleyball of women's college soccer so I'm very happy with a win against them. I believe coach Dambach has been playing around with the formation, that's why we lost the West Virginia match. Had we played at home we would have probably beat them. I can't wait for the match against UVA. It's an away match on 9/10/17 and should show how far along we've come. |

BTW, is there any sport which is officiated more poorly than college soccer? I think against a team like UNC you need to play more defensively and counter attack, it was a good strategy by PSU. UNC has too many offensive weapons and coach Dorrance loves to bring numbers forward in the attack, which leaves them vulnerable to counters. Quote from PSU GoSports website:"North Carolina came into the game averaging 19.2 shots per game and 2.8 goals per game. Penn State held them to just six shots and two on target." |

We can only hope! The ACC is one of the premier conferences in women's college soccer (maybe the best year in and year out).
PSU and UVA are tied 1-1 at the half.
Goal by Courtney Petersen, assisted by Zoe Morse, in the 3rd minute for UVA.
Goal by Haleigh Echard, assisted by Charlotte Williams, in the 44th minute for PSU.

PSU lost to UVA by a score of 3-2. Too many bad goals given up this match.
In general, PSU defense has been giving up too many goals this season.
I can't see them going too far in the tourney without a strong defense.

Just watched replay and just breezed thru match to see if we scored. 2nd Overtime!! 1-0!!. Didn't know Illinois would be that though to beat. On another note. #2 Field Hockey lost very first match against #6 Delaware 0-2 today.

Just watched replay and just breezed thru match to see if we scored. 2nd Overtime!! 1-0!!. Didn't know Illinois would be that though to beat. On another note. #2 Field Hockey lost very first match against #6 Delaware 0-2 today. I read somewhere that one of the best diagnostics for over-the-top fandom is..... Field Hockey. |
