I'm following the women's soccer team really closely this year, as their roster is stacked in almost all positions with really good/great players. This team is one of the favorites to win it all again this year. Here are some of my posts from the BigSoccer Forum (which I'm a member). Penn State's next 3 matches will be extremely exciting. The results of these matches should be telling for how well we can expect to do this season. 9/02 - at #6 West Virigina - 7:00 pm EST 9/07 - vs #9 North Carolina - 7:00 pm EST 9/10 - at #3 Univ. of VA - 2:00 pm ESTwww.gopsusports.com/sports/w-soccer/sched/psu-w-soccer-sched.htmlPenn State is currently ranked 4th according to the latest USC poll (8-29-17): unitedsoccercoaches.org/web/...NCAA_DI_WOMEN/web/rankings/ncaa/di_women.aspx I think Penn State's offense will be able to keep pace with anyone this year. My only concern is the defense. We have the players (on paper) to have a really good defense this season. The question is how long before the defense pulls together? It normally takes longer (about 1-2 months) for a defensive unit to come together versus the offensive unit.

Thanks Millenium. I hope to see some games broadcast and streamed.
Correct me if I am mistaken, but I think we have a new keeper this year. At least one of the defenders was on the U21 National team last year, so we have some talent at the back. Also, I wonder if we shall employ a 3 or 4 back system. Coach Walsh has used both in the past. Were you able to tell what she did in the first week?

Looks like Saturday's match against WVU will be viewable. I will watch as soon as the VB is over. Yes it is. Here's the video link: www.wvusports.com/watch/www.gopsusports.com/sports/w-soccer/spec-rel/090117aaa.htmlPSU's current record is 3-0-0. They beat... 8/18 - BYU 3-1 8/20 - Hofstra 3-0 8/25 - Arkansas 4-2 Marissa Sheva is their leading scorer with 4 goals so far this season. That's almost as many goals as she scored in 2015 and 2016 combined (3+2). She must have been drinking Go-Goal Juice.

Coach Walsh has used both in the past. Were you able to tell what she did in the first week? Rose Chandler has been starting. Her backup, Amanda Dennis, was playing all last year. They both have a lot of experience playing for various Youth National teams. Also, 3 of 4 members of our backline played for the U-20 National Team at the world cup last year.

I'm saddened to report a 1-2 loss to WVU. I knew WVU would be tough, especially at home. Heck they didn't make it to the final last year out of sheer luck. Also, I have lots of respect for what WVU coach Izzo Brown has been able to accomplish there. Having said that, it doesn't get any easier for PSU over their next 2 matches.

Missed the first half (there was a 5 set WVB match to (not) watch), so I did not see the WVU goals. Second half we played a 3 back which makes sense when you are chasing the game. We put tons of pressure but could not get any good shots at goal. Ogles PK came with less than 15 minutes left.
WVU announcers were not the best. Said the color guy "Coming into the game the girls knew that they would have to play at least 90 minutes."

Better to be obvious than bland?

Difficult to say what you mean sometimes. He was trying to say that WVU knew that they would have to play hard for the full 90.
