USA takes first set 25-21 behind five point run on Haleigh's serve! I don't remember her having such a strong jump serve in Rec Hall.

And a six point run by Washington in the second set including two aces.

Please consider that Luddites still exist. Telling us what the link is would be appreciated. I'm pretty sure that was a live stream link to yesterday's match vs Belgium. I finally bought a subscription to FloVolleyball TVl. Last year FloVB was giving me problems and I couldn't sign up. I like the English commentary, rather than listening to some foreigners. Yeah, after clicking on the link, I was able to determine that it was a link to the game. Although I must confess that my clicking on the link was accompanied by fears that I'd be whisked into the world of robot porn sites.

Jordan Thompson entered the match late in the third set and has been dominating. Announcer says she is from the University of Cincinnati.

USA defeated Japan 3-1. Haleigh Washington got her first start and led USA with 20 points. Hancock was the starting setter and played all four sets. Courtney played all four sets as the starting Libero. Simone Lee did not play.

I found a 12 minute highlight on Youtube. As always against Japan, lots of scrambling and digging. At least in this package, it looked like Micha was in her element with pancake digs, one handed backward sets and one play where Micha got one over from way off the court after Drews went nearly into the stands to retrieve an errant dig.

USA plays Bulgaria tomorrow. Since the Bulgarians lost to both Belgium and Japan, I would expect Karch to rest many of his starters.
Serbia vs. Turkey should be a good match.
The United States will open with Serbia next week.

It does seem probable that players like Simone Lee who have not yet seen the floor will get a chance. I expect that the line up for the coming weeks will change quite a bit as the more experienced players finish up their club commitments. I am curious why Karch has not employed the double sub so far. I doubt he plans to abandon the system, but maybe he is experimenting.

As expected, US swept Bulgaria. According to the unofficial stats and the US website, it appears that Courtney was the only PSU alum who saw time. All three of the current collegiate players got in, including Mary Lake. Curious that Simone Lee did not play in any of the three matches.
Next week will be much more difficult with Serbia, Italy, and Dominican Republic. Michelle Foecke will not be with the group as she is getting married. So there will be at least one replacement (perhaps more).
