Saw the Brazil match and it was not much fun to watch. Brazil dominated in all phases and the US looked very unsettled. Kiraly was extremely angry and even yelled at the ladies, which was surprising considering his huddles were televised.
The biggest problem was in service-usually a US team strength. Brazil received and sided out with ease. Even more oddly, even though US started Robinson at outside, meaning that she (a part time Libero) was often receiving with Larson and Courtney, we struggled to get good passes to Poulter, who played the whole match.
Foecke entered in set 3 and gave the team (and the Lincoln crowd) a lift. US managed to win that set, but the team missed critical chances in set 4, and went down. Brazil has a 5'11" outside going by the name of Gabi. She dominated the match. Have to keep a closer eye on that one.

Haleigh Washington and Megan Courtney are among the 14 players selected to represent the U.S. at the VNL Finals in China July 3-7.

Thanks for keeping an eye on this Ethan!
Historically, the US has tried harder to win this tournament (and its predecessor the Grand Prix) than other countries. However, this time around, the US rotated the roster quite a bit and used younger players, including 3 college athletes for this Finals Round. Playing 15 matches over 5 weeks, followed by at least 2 and maybe 3 more in the Finals is a lot for players some of whom did not finish up their Club work until just before the VNL got started.
So I remind myself not to read too much into the choice of setters (Carlini and Poulter), or with regard to who is making the trip to finish up this tournament, or even the results (since many of the participants left their top talent at home). Still, the matches I have been able to watch were fun. The Olympic Channel will show a replay of the Poland match in the next few days.

Can you get me a time and date when the Poland match will air on the Olympic Channel? I have Hulu and it's very difficult to navigate future programming. EDIT: Just found it. It will re-air on July 4th at 8:00 pm ET.

Olympic Channel does a nice job, and it would be great if all of the matches could be shown there. I also understand that sometimes Flo's stream is not so great.

So, I just signed up for a month Volleyballworld.tv for $9.90. However, you must use a VPN to mask your IP, because they won't allow it in the USA because of Flo. I'm using a Canadian IP address with my VPN and the stream was great. USA defeated Poland 3-1 today. That was an important step to guaranteeing a spot in the semis.

I downloaded the Windscribe app/program and use it to protect my whole internet connection, so I'm not limited by browsers. It also has a built-in firewall and other nice features. I believe you can use it for free, up to 10GB per month. The only issues I've been having is when trying to use it for TV streaming sites like HULU; they hate VPN's.

Saw the 4 minute highlight package of the Brazil match on You Tube. The lineup was changed with Larson, T. Dixon, Rettke, Thompson and Foecke all playing replacing the front line all of whom played pretty well against Poland. Even with all of the changes, US won in 4 sets which is big deal because Brazil crunched them in the preliminary round (played in Lincoln).
So on to the semifinals-no idea who our starters will be (except (probably) Carlini and Courtney).

US beat China 3-1 in semi finals today. Poulter and Dixon replaced Carlini and Washington in sets 3 and 4. On the highlight package, Courtney had some excellent digs and one excellent cross court bump set/assist.
Finals against Brazil is broadcast live on Olympic Channel (at 7:30 am I think).

US wins VNL 3-2 over Brazil. Will be rebroadcast on Olympic Channel tonight. If you watch you will see Megan Courtney's finest match for the US, and Kiraly's best coaching work too. Annie Drews was a goddess, and Jordan Larson a savior. Very exciting volleyball.

I imagine the anti-Nittanyites are having quite a meltdown over at Volleytalk.

Clearly, the voting was rigged. I question the integrity of the Romanian judge.
